H. ‘Elatior’

Leaf : Very large, shiny, mid green with heavy veins

Parentage : u/k but very probably a H. nigrescens cross (possibly with montana as the pollen parent). Originally thought to be form of H. nigrescens

Originator : Maekawa

Registered : 1940

Comments : A classic ‘must-have’ hosta. One of the largest and fastest growing green hostas with a good habit. It’s been used in hybridising to create several other great and well-known giants, although many of these crosses haven’t been fully documented so Elatior’s involvement is likely but not certain. Examples include H. ‘Sum & Substance’ & H. ‘Blue Angel’.
